Synthetic Ecology - Image 1

DESCRIPTION

Synthetic Ecology employs a StyleGAN algorithm trained on thousands of botanical images to generate entirely new species of flowers that exist nowhere in nature. The algorithmically-designed forms are modeled using parametric software including xShape, xDesign, and xGenerative, creating complex organic geometries optimized for 3D printing. Each piece is fabricated in clear resin using a Formlabs 3L large-format printer, chosen for its ability to produce transparent forms with fine detail resolution. The crystal-clear resin allows light to pass through the synthetic blooms, creating an interplay between opacity and transparency that mimics natural plant structures. The wearable structure creates a physical manifestation of AI-generated organic forms, completing a loop from digital synthesis to tangible biological-inspired object.
