ABOUT

Kate Reed builds wearable computers using AI, advanced textiles, and traditional craft techniques.

She built her first wearable computer before the Apple Watch at 13. After becoming the first graduate of MIT's spinout NuVu Studio, she studied Robotics and Industrial Design at Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design (Dual Degree), then earned an MSc. in Computational & Advanced Design.

Reed has held residencies at Dassault Systèmes (Solidworks), Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and Pilchuck Glass School (founded by Dale Chihuly). Her work has been displayed at the White House, New York Fashion Week, and the MIT Museum.
