Symbiosis Storytelling Crowns
Each crown is constructed from formed metal with embedded gemstone-shaped buttons that function as recording triggers and story selection controls. A Raspberry Pi microcontroller powers the system, managing audio playback through small speakers positioned near the wearer's ears and handling cloud connectivity for accessing a worldwide story database. When a wearer presses a gem, the crown begins recording their voice, capturing personal narratives about community, nature, and relationships. Recorded stories are uploaded to the cloud network, where they become available for download to any Symbiosis crown globally. The crowns create an interconnected oral tradition, with wearers both contributing and receiving narratives from around the world. The piece explores how wearable technology can facilitate cultural exchange and storytelling across geographic boundaries. Supported by Social Enterprise Greenhouse, the project demonstrates technology's potential to preserve and share human narratives.
