By extruding, or bioprinting, the Physarum Polycephalum through a syringe we have successfully shown the ability to produce wires of Physarum that can transmit electronic signals. These wires can act as a replacement to traditional wires in electronic circuit boards.
By changing the diet of the Physarum we have increased the conductivity of these living wires.
The extruded slime mold wires have implications for future circuit boards, bread boards and more.
