Pollution Cloud - Image 1

DESCRIPTION

The sculptural base is formed from bronze sheet metal, shaped to create a wearable frame that supports fiber optic cables radiating outward from the body. LED lights are embedded at the base of each fiber optic strand, with light transmission through the cable creating a glowing, cloud-like effect. An air quality sensor continuously monitors pollution levels in the immediate environment, feeding particulate and gas concentration data to a microcontroller. The microcontroller translates pollution readings into visual responses, altering LED brightness and patterns based on toxin levels. As pollution increases, the fiber optic cloud glows more intensely, making the normally invisible environmental hazard visible and personal. The piece augments human perception by providing immediate sensory feedback about air quality, creating awareness of pollution exposure in real-time.
