Keepers - Image 1

DESCRIPTION

The Keepers are crafted using advanced subdivision modeling, combining hard and soft surface techniques to create distinct organic forms. The Dawn Keeper features hardy, meaty volumes with blubbery mushroom-like protrusions that provide warmth and protection, sculpted through mesh deformation to achieve fleshy, yielding surfaces. The Dusk Keeper presents a contrasting crunchy, callous exterior with pinecone-inspired prickles radiating from the core, designed to catch and store energy in their geometric nooks. Both characters are developed through non-destructive workflows that allow iterative refinement, moving between NURBS, subdivision surfaces, and polygon meshes. The modeling process emphasizes topological thinking, ensuring clean edge flow that supports both the sculptural forms and potential animation rigging. These energy-wielding beings populate Eden's barren planet, serving as guardians of the landscape's power sources. Created in collaboration with Michael Engel.
