Glass Mask - Image 1

DESCRIPTION

Each petal is individually shaped from borosilicate glass using flameworking techniques, creating organic forms that overlap and layer across the face. The hundreds of glass elements are connected through fine wirework, allowing independent movement that creates dynamic light refraction as the wearer moves. The borosilicate material's optical properties create varying levels of transparency, with some petals appearing nearly invisible while others catch and reflect light. The overlapping structure allows the mask to camouflage in changing light conditions, with the glass petals fragmenting the wearer's features rather than fully obscuring them. The construction method allows each petal to be individually replaced or repositioned, making the mask adaptable to different facial structures and aesthetic preferences.
