Antlers - Image 1

DESCRIPTION

The piece is designed using a digital workflow spanning Photoshop, Illustrator, and Rhino, allowing precise control over both aesthetic and structural elements. The plywood is laser-cut into individual components that assemble into an antler-like crown structure, referencing animal display behaviors used in mating rituals. The layered plywood construction creates dimensional depth while maintaining lightweight wearability, with each layer contributing to the overall protective yet ornamental quality. The antler form creates an imposing silhouette that simultaneously attracts attention and creates physical barriers, embodying the paradox between displaying for mates and protecting vulnerability. The natural wood material connects the contemporary design to primal, biological behaviors. The piece debuted at Boston Fashion Week's 2014 Emerging Trends show, situating fashion as a medium for examining evolutionary psychology and human behavior.
