Angry Prosthetic - Image 1

DESCRIPTION

The sculptural form is constructed from bronze sheet metal, cut and formed into prismatic shapes that protrude outward in sharp, angular points. Each prism creates an aggressive visual language that mirrors the emotional state the piece explores. Embedded motion sensors detect sharp, sudden movements and aggressive gestures, feeding data to a Teensy microcontroller. The sensor information is processed through Max MSP, where movement intensity and speed are translated into harsh, dissonant sonic textures. The bronze material's weight and rigidity require forceful movement to activate, creating a physical feedback loop that reinforces the emotional expression. Part of the Musical Prosthetics series, the piece explores how wearable technology can externalize and amplify internal emotional states through sound.
